The Dads Must Be Crazy Ep. 13: Those Family Vacations

Welcome to episode 13 of The Dads Must Be Crazy. This week we talk about family vacations. From the time we were kids, to taking our own kids on vacation, how have things changed? The Disney Conundrum arises. Do we take our kids to Disney, and at what age? Howie wants to plan a trip to Iowa next August for the Yankees-White Sox game at the Field of Dreams. And we all seem pretty focused on a guy trip to New York City.

Let's Go Take a Hike

There hasn’t been much posted on the Cooler over the past week. That’s because we took a family vacation. I went a full week without having my computer on, and I kind of liked it. I think I may try to stay off it more. In the meantime, the time off with the family was definitely worth it. Sometimes, we just need to leave the electronic world behind. It was refreshing.

This year’s family vacation was planned to be a bit more of a stay-cation than last year when we went to Williamsburg, Virginia. What we ended up with was a bit more of a regular vacation, although not far from a stay-cation. We decided that we needed to do something fairly close to home and more in nature.

Monday, August 21st, The Vacation Awakens

We went to Jamestown on Monday. Well, we went to Jamestown Settlement rather than Historic Jamestown. I really want to get to the actual Jamestown settlement and the James Fort. When we left the big museum at Jamestown Settlement, I wanted to see where the actual site was. It was literally on the other side of the trees, just around the corner. We were so close. Now we must look at our schedule to see if we can somehow fit it in. Here’s keeping fingers crossed.

These Old Walkin' Shoes: On the Road Again

This week is Spring Break for Wendy and the kids. We try to take the girls to a museum or something for a day trip when we have breaks like this. We’ve gone to the Strong Museum in Rochester, the Buffalo Museum of Science, and some other local attractions. This time, we made plans to go a little bit farther than normal. We were going to take the girls to the Women's Rights National Historic Park in Seneca Falls.
