Buzz Words Episode 3: After the Fall With Edward Ashton

Episode 3 of Buzz Words features our first interview with an author. Edward Ashton, author of Mickey 7 (which was the inspiration for the Movie Mickey 17, starring Robert Pattinson), Antimatter Blues, The Fourth Consort, and After the Falls, joins us to talk about his latest book, After the Fall. We are grateful to Edward for taking time out of his day to speak with us. We also plan our next reading adventure, which will be coming out soon.

Driven to Try: The Reading Olypmics

For any of our faithful readers lately, it’s been easy to figure out that Howie has been on a reading mission for the year. He has a goal of reading one book a week for a full year, ultimately reading at least 52 books over the course of 2018. His last three articles have been book reviews, of a sort. He prefers to write about what the book means to him rather than the mechanics of the book generally found in a review. One of the side effects of Howie going on a reading binge totally affects me.

Thinking Out Loud: Perfection is a Rarity

Last time I graced this space with my thoughts I talked about movies. I'm going to do the same thing this time, only shift the focus.
Let's get to it, shall we?
For years Hollywood has found some of its greatest source material from the written word. According to the American Film Institute's list of the Top 100 Movies, three of the top 10 were based on previously written novels. On the more contemporary IMDB.com, four of the top 10 ranked movies by Internet users were adapted from already published works.

Who Loves An Adventure in Books?

If you’re walking down the towpath on the south side of the Erie Canal near Day Road, you may stumble upon a bit of a surprise. Situated at the edge of a dock anchored to the rocks along the shore of the waterway is a TARDIS. While you won’t see the Doctor jumping out from its doors, it can take you away to another world.

REMINISCING: A Writing Life

If any of you have been paying attention, you’ve noticed that the updates on Niagara’s Watercooler have been a little bit more intermittent than normal. That’s completely my fault. Sometimes life happens, and sometimes I just don’t have “it.” By “it” I mean those moments when I sit down to the computer to write and the ideas just come. This block happens once in awhile but it always ends with a flourish of extra writing.
